Activities

Meaningful activities, social connection and opportunities for residents to enjoy, participate and express themselves in a welcoming community.

Life at Millbrook Manor

At Millbrook Manor, we recognise that meaningful activity is an important part of everyday life. Our activities programme offers a wide variety of opportunities for residents to socialise, stay active, enjoy familiar interests and discover new experiences. Activities can be adapted to individual preferences, abilities and levels of participation.

πŸƒ

Cards Club & Games

Residents can join group sessions or enjoy one-to-one card games if they prefer something quieter. Other activities include general knowledge quizzes, name-the- sound games and classic board games.

πŸ’¬

Resident Meeting

Our monthly Residents Meeting provides an opportunity for residents to share thoughts, ideas and suggestions about daily life in the home. Topics can include activities, menu choices, events and other matters residents wish to raise.

Religious Activities & Pastoral Care

Weekly Mass is held in our Oratory for residents and family members who wish to attend, with Holy Communion also distributed weekly. Local ministers of different faiths visit residents regularly. A weekly Rosary group is also available for those interested.

🧁

Baking Groups

Baking groups are held regularly, with recipes selected so residents can participate in simple tasks such as mixing, sieving and beating. These sessions encourage active participation and provide opportunities to enjoy familiar activities.

🌱

Gardening

When weather permits, residents are encouraged to take part in gardening activities such as weeding, planting and watering flowers and plants. Residents may also participate in other suitable outdoor tasks.

πŸ’‡

Hairdressing & Beauty

Our in-house salon provides a welcoming space for residents to enjoy hairdressing and personal grooming. Fridays are often a lively time in the salon, giving residents an opportunity to chat and socialise.

πŸ’†

Pampering

Staff provide nail and hand care, including hand massage, manicures and foot spas. These activities can provide comfort, relaxation and opportunities for residents to enjoy some personal attention.

πŸ“°

Local & National News

Residents have access to daily newspapers, the weekly local paper, Ireland's Own and other magazines. Daily discussion groups provide opportunities to talk about headlines and articles of interest.

🏠

Household Activities

Residents can take part in suitable everyday household activities that encourage participation and independence. We also use CiΓΊnas, a programme from Engaging Dementia, featuring familiar hymns, prayers and rosaries.

🧘

Imagination Gym

Imagination Gym is a relaxation activity that provides a calm space where residents can use their imagination through a gentle approach to reminiscence. Sessions are facilitated by trained activity therapists and guided by audio, with Light Touch therapy also used.

🦢

Reflexology

A monthly reflexology day is available by appointment with a qualified reflexologist. Places are offered on a rotating basis to residents who wish to participate.

πŸ“š

Mobile Library

The Mobile Library gives residents the opportunity to borrow and exchange books without leaving the home. The collection includes novels, biographies, large-print books and magazines. Residents can request specific titles or authors, with assistance available when needed.

🧩

Peg Therapy & Doll Therapy

Peg Therapy involves sorting and placing colourful pegs, supporting focus, coordination and hand strength in a fun activity. Doll Therapy can provide comfort and reassurance, particularly for residents living with dementia. Both activities promote engagement and comfort.
